Grassroots DFL • On to 2030

Enforce the Law.
Not a Party Line.

Captain David J.S. Madgett . USAF JAG Veteran • Minneapolis Attorney

In August, 103,743 Minnesotans voted for a first-time grassroots candidate the party machine wrote off. That wasn't a protest vote. That was an instruction.

No operators. No favors owed. Knocked doors and told the truth.
And we did it spending next to nothing. That's called performance — and it's exactly what voters should demand from their government.

Thank You, Minnesota. On to 2030.

We ran a first-time campaign against the entire DFL machine and took 103,743 votes off its table. Door by door. No operators, no favors owed. The lesson is simple: this party belongs to its voters, not its operators. It's time the people of Minnesota took it back.

Endorsed by Governor Arne Carlson

In 2026, Dave was endorsed by Arne Carlson, Minnesota's 37th Governor — the leader who turned a billion-dollar deficit into a surplus, restored the state's AAA bond rating, and has spent three decades demanding accountability from both parties.

“I cannot say enough about Governor Carlson's integrity and focus. He is what public service is supposed to look like — and his fight for accountable government is our fight.” — Dave

The Mission Is Bigger Than Any Primary

This November we're supporting Keith Ellison for Attorney General. The job in front of Minnesota is bigger than any primary: protect people from corporate greed and insurance-company scammers, and push back when the federal government oversteps.

We believe in states' rights and the founders' system of federalism. The states are where the people's power lives. Minnesota should never outsource its problems — or its principles — to Washington.

And let me be direct about 2026. My difference with Keith was never philosophical. I ran because I believed I could do the same job better. We asked for an independent investigation because Minnesotans deserved that assurance — and we have never alleged any direct evidence that Keith did anything wrong. First the facts. Then the fix.

A Career Built on Accountability

Dave Madgett has spent nearly two decades in the trenches of consumer law, fighting for Minnesota families against the institutions that take advantage of them. As founder of Madgett Law in Minneapolis, he has handled thousands of cases involving identity theft, predatory lending, fraud, and civil rights.

Before practicing civilian law, Dave served as a Captain in the United States Air Force Judge Advocate General's Corps, where he served as a base Chief of Justice. He prosecuted criminal cases, advising commanders, and upholding the rule of law.

Six Priorities for Minnesota

01

Aggressive Fraud Enforcement

Dedicated Fraud Enforcement Division. Prosecute all fraud regardless of who's connected. The Feeding Our Future failures cannot happen again.

02

Consumer Protection

After nearly 20 years helping families fight identity theft, predatory lending, and consumer fraud, Dave knows these cases inside and out. He will bring that experience to the AG's office on day one.

03

Government Accountability

Transparent audits of state spending and real enforcement of open records laws. Accountability that applies to both parties equally. Taxpayer dollars do not belong to any political party.

04

Public Safety

Using the full authority of the AG's office to go after organized crime, drug trafficking, human trafficking, and cold cases that have gone unsolved for too long.

05

Civil Rights & Liberty

Every Minnesotan deserves to have their constitutional rights defended equally and consistently. No political games. No picking winners and losers.

06

Depoliticize the Office

No more lawsuits filed for headlines. No more using the office to score political points. The AG works for the people of Minnesota and it is time the office started acting like it.

Are Minnesota's High Earners Leaving?

We pulled the IRS's own migration files and did the arithmetic. Minnesota lost $1.47 billion of income to other states in one year — and then the trend reversed. Both halves of the story, with the tax-flight argument fairly stated on both sides.
